What is APT from Yahoo!?
APT from Yahoo! is an advertising platform that dramatically simplifies the process of buying and selling ads online. It’s a hosted solution that is designed to allow unprecedented ease of cross-selling across a large network of publishers, advertisers, ad networks and agencies. It will streamline advertisers' ad-buying process for multiple accounts across multiple publishers, and enable creative testing and campaign optimization.
-
When will this product roll out?
The platform is rolling out as planned in phases beginning with publishers the San Francisco Chronicle of Hearst Newspapers and San Jose Mercury News of MediaNews Group. Yahoo! will start to make the platform available to other parties including advertisers, publishers, networks and agencies in 2009.
-
What benefits will it provide to publishers, advertisers, agencies, networks, partners, developers and users?
- For publishers, this platform is designed to open up access to massive demand and improve yield from all inventory, while simplifying ad management. It's also designed to help publishers create new revenue by cross-trading with other sellers to increase supply.
- Advertisers and agencies will be able reach a massive scale of quality audiences across multiple properties on a single platform, and harness detailed insights on those users, driving better performance as they simplify media buying.
- Ad networks will gain access to more audiences and demand—including Yahoo! and the largest ad Exchange—in one place, simplify the process of doing business with all of these partners, and expand revenue opportunities.
- Partners and developers will be able to bring their technologies, solutions and innovations to a vast marketplace easily, and help all buyers and sellers do business more effectively.
- Users will benefit as well, with a more relevant online experience. They'll see better targeted and more engaging ads.
-
Can I start advertising through APT from Yahoo! today?
We are rolling out this product in phases, and it will be first available only for our publishing partners. We are scheduled to start rolling out APT from Yahoo! to other audiences in 2009. Check back at our website apt.yahoo.com for the latest information, or provide us with your contact information for email updates.
-
Is APT from Yahoo! an ad network or a new exchange?
Think of it as a superset of the best of what’s offered by ad exchanges, ad servers and ad networks. It unifies the market—connecting all players on a single platform—and is designed to open up access to a massive amount of quality audiences and demand. It integrates and lets you manage multiple aspects of your business in a single system—from guaranteed and non-guaranteed ad serving to the seamless integration of audience insights. It makes innovations, such as the ability to cross-sell and create new value, a core of the platform.
The platform is not by any means an ad network, but the Yahoo! Ad Network will be one of many ad networks that will use this platform to buy and sell media.
-
Today, APT from Yahoo! seems to be focused on representing display advertising. Will you be adding search ads, mobile or video?
APT from Yahoo! will evolve over time, and our intention is to integrate all of the different existing ad formats into this platform. Check back at our website apt.yahoo.com for the latest information, or provide us with your contact information to receive email updates.
-
How is APT from Yahoo! different from the Right Media Exchange?
APT from Yahoo! will leverage the systems of the largest internet publisher, the first and largest exchange marketplace and the leading online video platform, as well as the combined experience of the teams that built them.
APT from Yahoo! is a new platform that expands on the principles of the Right Media Exchange (RMX) open ecosystem, combining the concepts and functionality of RMX with Yahoo!’s ad network. It is a more comprehensive ad management platform with regard to guaranteed inventory, support for rich media, support for targeting, and ad inventory quality controls. While it is a separate exchange, there are future plans to link the two exchanges together.
Through APT from Yahoo!, customers will have the ability to buy and sell premium, guaranteed, and non-guaranteed inventory. Businesses can use APT from Yahoo! as an end-to-end solution, or as a supplement to existing solutions. Clients can access Yahoo! and other exchange members’ behavioral targeting, contextual targeting, and standardized systems of ad classification.
-
Does APT from Yahoo! work with Sponsored Search? Can advertisers link an APT from Yahoo! account to a YSM account?
For advertisers, the initial release of APT from Yahoo! is intended to simplify the purchase of display advertising inventory, so initially you will not be able to tie an APT from Yahoo! account to a Sponsored Search account.
-
Can I sign up to be reminded when APT from Yahoo! is available to me?
Yes—please visit our website apt.yahoo.com for the latest information, or to provide us with your contact information to receive email updates.
-
When will this be available in international markets?
The platform is scheduled to start to roll out to international markets in 2009.
